My career as a fashion designer started at FIDM. Upon graduation I went to work for a family run business. It was ran by a married couple she was Mexican American and he was French Canadian. I worked out of there garage for $6 an hour as a pattern maker. From there I went for an interview at Ipanema Swimwear. I came into the office and the Brazilian owner asked to put on a bikini. I quickly realized she didn't know who I was. I got the job and without having a fitting.
I was lucky enough to design this board short collection. Designing the prints, graphics and choosing material was so artistically satisfying. Working with the group of nutty surfers, from Brad Gerlach to Bobby Martinez was one of my career highlights.
