FASHION

My fashion career began at FIDM and took off in the most unexpected ways. Right after graduation, I joined a small, family-run business—he was French Canadian, she was Mexican American—and I worked out of their garage as a pattern maker earning $6 an hour. From there, I landed an interview at Ipanema Swimwear. The Brazilian owner asked me to try on a bikini… not realizing I was there to design them, not model them. I got the job without a fitting—and the rest is history.

REEF

I was lucky enough to design this board short collection. Designing the prints, graphics and choosing material was so artistically satisfying. Working with the group of nutty surfers, from Brad Gerlach to Bobby Martinez was one of my career highlights.
